Gettysburg College
The Early Learning Center Gettysburg, PA 2008This new 8,800 SF Early Learning Center for Gettysburg College is sited on Constitution Avenue on axis with the Campus. The Center, managed by Hildebrandt Learning Centers, Inc., includes classrooms for children from infancy through preschool. Before and after school care can also be accommodated for grade school students.
Interior windows and a testing room are some innovations specific to the College’s desire to incorporate testing and observation requirements for the Psychology Department. The interior windows also encourage interaction between the students in separate classrooms.
The ‘Gettysburg Blend’ brick, cedar clapboard siding, arched entranceway; octagonal cupola and glass light pattern are all exterior finish details that root the building to the Campus vernacular. The use of many ‘natural ‘ finish materials is a direct response to the Gettysburg College’s efforts to build ‘Green”.
